Empowering Children

Education, enshrined as a fundamental right, in several articles of the Indian constitution is often at the mercy of the government for its betterment and percolation to the all the strata of the society.
The challenges facing children in poverty are varied and daunting.
Barriers to a quality education include lack of resources at home to provide the basic necessities of clothing, food, shelter, and health care, let alone such comparative luxuries as electronic connectivity, reading materials, tutoring, and a stable environment to support learning. When children hit the front door of the school building, further disadvantages accumulate.
Under-resourced schools lack adequate space and other educational materials. Poor parents do not have the capacity to advocate for their children in the school system in the same way that middle class parents can. Parents frequently work in two or three part-time jobs and may be uncomfortable dealing with bureaucracy and confronting educational authorities.
There is hope in this seemingly unpromising terrain. We, at Kanchana foundation have the potential to empower children by educating them.
We envision an education system that harnesses the creative instincts and enables children to interpret the world on his own so as to grow intellectually and blossom into enlightened citizens.
We have chalked out following initiaves to empower children to help continue their education.
Sponsor a Child:
Provide Scholarships: Support is to be provided through financial instruments for trouble free schooling and to achieve a 100% attendance. These are in the form of scholarships, award of free text books, writing books, stationeries and school uniforms. The needy children are selected based on the economic background.
Educate a Child: This is achieved by means of initiative 'e-Educate'. The goal is to educate a child by providing teaching support from the resources distributed around the world.
To further augment intellectual and social interactions, a web space and email accounts would be provided for each of the schools under the main web domain of Kanchana Foundation. This would eventually facilitate the children to network and connect with the rest of the world and facilitate a forum to display their talent to the world.
