Kanchana Foundation established in January 2010, is a charitable trust that promotes education as a sustainable means to empower underprivileged children. The foundation is setup in a small city Puttur of southern Indian state of Karnataka. The Foundation believes that education is the means of ensuring a sustainable social and economic progress of India. Hence the focus is to provide quality education and also means to achieve the excellence in education among children of rural and remote regions. Children being the core beneficiery group, the school, its teachers and the surrounding society are also included in the net.

• The foundation is founded by Mr. Adarsha Kanchana (adarsha@kanchanafoundation.org, Started the foundation using the DAAD prize). Holding masters degree in Microelectronics and Microsystems as well as an MBA degree, he brings with him an aptitude to run the foundation in an entrepreneurial style, while maintaining the soft skills required to run a social entreprise.



• The foundation is steered in India by Mr. Sundara Bhat Kanchana (sundar@kanchanafoundation.org), having about 35 years of experience in the field of primary education and primary schools. He brings with him his experience as a teacher and also as an education officer (now retired). He is a wealth of know- how in the field of education at the grass root level.



• The foundation is represented in the USA by Dr. Prasad Kanchana (prasad@kanchanafoundation.org), MD in Gastroenterology and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He brings with him experiences and network required to run the Foudation.

The flagship initiative of Kanchana Foudation is Project Vidyā. Ensuring a seamless primary education, devoid of interruptions in schooling, and helping children continue further education and thus transforming their lives is the fundamental goal of Kanchana Foundation. Our goal is not only to provide them with immediate needs of fish but also a fishing rod and the skill sets needed to catch one! We thus make the process of acquiring knowledge sustainable. Recognized under the section 80G of the Indian Income Tax act 1961 (K-130/80G/CIT/MNG/2012-13). Donations to Kanchana Foundation are exempted from income tax in India.
